I build starter sets for sale at TTOS-SP meets. I mostly use small postwar transformers like the model 1010, 1012, 1016 (all 35W) or the model 1015 45 W. Do these units have circuit breakers? I've tested several by shorting the terminals with a screwdriver. The output drops to zero, but there's no "pop" indicating that a breaker has tripped and the voltage returns to normal as soon as I remove the screwdriver, even after 10 seconds or longer.
Is this normal CB operation for these units? Is there a better way of testing them? Do they provide adequate protection for small sets runing conventional postwar engines?
