I am watching a Weaver A-5 on one of the auction sites and I am not sure if it has a whistle.  the box info says reverse unit by qsi.  Does that automatically mean it will have a whistle?  There are no other indicates on the box, and of course Weaver is long gone, so I am not sure who to ask.

Any way, without seeing it in person I am really hesitant to bid if it doesn't have a voice.

QSI Sound was usually a second board, piggy-backed, on top of the Forward/Reverse board. The scale slope-backed tender has barely enough room for one board.  Sound also requires a speaker in this tender.  With Early, (Ed Bender), Generic TMCC, I did a conversion for this model, but had to alter the front of the Tender, (Add space).  Current, ERR upgrades, would be a tight fit.

Most Weaver brass locomotives from that era have QSI conventional reversing boards with no sound.  That particular locomotive (assuming it's the one in Stout's auction) belonged to a late friend of mine, and I know that it has no sound.

Well,  you can't get any better info than that!  Yes, that is the exact one I was looking at.  Thank you very much for both the general and specific info!
