Motor works fine but when attached to drive assembly it is binding and will lock up. Since there is multiple gear action how can you determine which gear (s) are worn or whatever. Thanks for help.

2 usual suspects com to mind immediately.
- has the worm shaft in the truck worn into the pillow block / bearing / bushing causing the entire shaft, and specifically the spur gear, to shift forward into the truck casting or brass cover plate?
-have you - or someone - disassembled the truck and put the worm shaft pillow blocks / bearings / bushings upside down? They only work in one position and will bind if not replaced in the factory position.
Thanks Rob; Didn't realize the pillow bock position was that critical. I did have it all apart to service and relube . Didn't see that the hole in block was not centered which would relocate the worm shaft> is that what happens?
Tony
That's what happens. The notched corners should be "up", only one corner of each bearing is notched/angled. It's rather subtle.
