I have a Flyonel PA diesel locomotive. I had replaced the original e-unit with an err and it ran fine with command. Now it doesn’t run at all. Can one still get a replacement unit or should I just go back to the original e-unit? Unfortunately, I cannot find the original e-unit (one look in my shop and you’d understand) so what is the Lionel part number for the unit? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

A Dallee 400 will do the job nicely. You can even select "start in forward" or "start in neutral before forward."
Did you try resetting the err unit or do you know that you fried it?
Brendan
Yes. I tried resetting but all I get is the headlight. Neither command or conventional seems to make it work.
Hi, We offer out of warranty replacement, $50 / board.

Exactly what failed with your ERR unit? What exact unit to you have? It could be a simple issue. Are you running conventional or command? What are the exact symptoms?
- Gunner. Thanks for your response. I’m totally clueless as to what unit (see photo). It’s been several years since I installed it and I can’t find the documentation. It doesn’t run in either command or conventional. Only the headlight lights up. The antenna is probably not in the correct spot as I forgot about it when removing the chassis from the shell. I’m not too handy with electronics.

That's the ERR Cruise Commander Lite, it's no longer made.
Do you run TMCC? If you just run conventional, I can fix you up with a conventional reverse unit.
AAMOF, I'd like to swap you for that dead board, I can probably fix it, and since I can't get those anymore, it would be nice to have another one.
Thanks John. I run both tmcc and conventional. Your offer of a swap is generous but to be fair, how about a trade-in and also give you something dollar-wise at least for the postage. How should we handle this? Contact you at Hennings Trains? JW&A? Send you the unit and you send a conventional electronic (I assume) e-unit? Thanks. Phil
Send me an email to my profile email address and we'll work it out. Click on my profile name and you'll see my email address.
I'd email you, but there is no email in your profile.
Email has been sent. Phil
Anyone know why Cruise Lite isno longer being made? Cruise lite was a excellent fit for most S gauge uses. I noticed that band guy was using a cruise lite with twin motor setup. Might have been too light for that......

I believe that Scott said that there wasn't enough interest to justify a production run. I am a big fan of the Cruise Lite, and I even got to beta test it before it hit the market years ago.
Cruise Commander Lite Beta Test, Part Deux
I'd love to see this product back in the lineup, my stock is running low. When ERR was about to be shut-down, I ordered a bunch of these, and I'm slowly using them up.
Ah HA --- so you're the person who grabbed them all up ! I had bought 5 on the original offering and then a few later, but used everyone.
I did my part, I bought a bunch of the CC-Lite and I think a dozen of the full Cruise boards. I was quite happy when Scott picked up the ERR line and we could still get boards.
Cruise lite boards and puffer boards would nice...............

I'd love to see the CC-Lite revived but I have the "puffer" board covered with something better. Super-Chuffer II

I don't see the CC Lite as being insufficient for the twin motor PAs if it was a can motor unit. I have several of the PAs using the CC Lite even with the full complement of seven or eight coaches on a 1 1/2 percent grade they draw well under two amps. I also aquired a number of the Lites and am running out. The Cruise Commander will fit in the PAs but I can squeeze the CC Lite into the Flyonel GPs.
They are the perfect choice for S gauge.

The issue with the CC-Lite is it doesn't handle overloads well. It's fine running those two motors if you don't have a motor stall. However, if you do have a motor stall, the current with two parallel motors will very quickly go way over the ratings of the CC-Lite and it will smoke it. I cooked one during the beta testing before it was even available with a dual-motor K-Line Interurban. The Interurban has smaller motors with a lower stall current than any of the vertical can motored locomotives, but when it snagged a switch it fried the CC-Lite in a matter of seconds.
With all my CC-Lite installations I started using a 1 amp PTC in series with the motor(s) to protect the CC-Lite in the case of overload, haven't lost one since.
