Evans Designs LEDs not lighting with AC Commander

First command Aux1 Aux2  with the Cab1.   Turns the lights on/off.

I had to go through my ERR manuals but what I found was that using an LED you need to put a.01 uf 50v cap across the led leads, I believe the LED does not create enough load on the circuit. This I found in the Cruise Lite manual.

Thanks for the info, Ray! I guess I'll have to order some caps. I want to run two LEDs on each end. Do I need a cap for each one or can I combine the lead wires of two LEDs and use one cap for both?

If you are doing directional lighting you will need a cap for each.  If not one cap will do.

Also in command mode the ERR boards put out a half wave lighting output.  You may just need to reverse the positive and negative leads to make your lights work.

I have installed a Cruise Lite unit in a K-Line MP15 switcher. I additionally installed LED ditch lights and a headlight from Dan's LED Depot with no capacitors needed - connected directly to the Cruise unit.

This should only apply to the Cruise Lite as those caps were mistakenly left off the lighting outputs.  The AC, DC, and Cruise Commander products should not need anything to allow LED's to function as the .01 caps are part of the board design.

I don't know which Evans product you're using, but try swapping the polarity of the leads and see if that helps.

Success! Switching the wire leads did the trick. These LEDs came in the Evans Kit #BL-311-18 and each LED has one red and one black wire. I just assumed that the colors corresponded to +/- for the connections. Thanks to all for the help!

The colors are probably the colors, note that the positive side of the TMCC lighting outputs is frame ground!   This is an oddity that trips up a lot of people.
