Looking on their Facebook page, I saw a brass streamliner engine.  It looks like it could either be a J or K2a. Can't really tell what it is. And do I see a Pennsy Ten-Wheeler on display as well? I also see a passenger car in there too.

My guess would be a K2a (as all the left side detail isn't there) and a giveaway would be the shroud over the Worthington BL feedwater heater:

Darn! I wanted a PRR K2 or a PRR k3! The K3 could have been made for the n&w too!

And the next brass hybrid loco is ....

Norfolk and Western K2 streamline.

Yes, 3rd Rail did a N&W K2.

I imagine it will sell very well but for me I was hoping for something new haven or B&O. A pennsy K class other then the K4 would have gotten my order as well.

According to Ryan on the podcast, it is up on Lionel's website right now for ordering.  MSRP is $1399 but will be $1299 if you order before August 11th.  It should be here first quarter of 2019.  Go to the Lionel Store on there website and search K2 and you will find the K2s.

Well that's interesting. If it had been a N&W K1, I'd be all over it. Maybe since they have the running gear, the K1 could be next.

Since I already have a 3rd Rail K2a, I'll have to pass. FWIW, I already had the Lionel JLC Y6b when 3rd Rail introduced their Y6b. Passed on the 3rd Rail offering. It swings both ways. There's a limit to the $1K+ locomotives I can roster.

I'm passing too. I think the B&O N1 is a good brass hybrid candidate. It's never been made. I'm thinking they can use a 4-8-4 frame for it. 

Its the 1st duplex steamer to ever run, it's never been done and in that beautiful B&O blue it would sell. Also the reversed rear cylinder would be so cool to watch in action.

Yawn.  As if there haven’t been enough N&W streamlined steam engines produced over the years.  They couldn’t come up with something else...ANYTHING else?

Good looking engines but I'm gonna pass this time around. I have a 611 which is enough N&W steam for me. I'm sure this will make many other people happy though so to them I say enjoy!

Nice looking, but all I wanted under the tree was a LionMaster J, which many have requested for years.

If Lionel did the PRR K3's / N&W E3's they would have a really HOT item on their hands!

Two big eastern RR's, Same loco yet different tenders.

Sure seems like an odd choice especially since all the extra detail was supposed to be a benefit of doing the brass hybrids. Can only do so much with a streamlined locomotive. I'll stick with my Legacy J

While not one I have to have, I swear some of you guys would complain if you got $500 in $1 bills. 

I'm sure there are folks out there that will be happy it's being made. I also get that's it's not for everyone but it seems if you don't like it or want it then just say so and move on without the drama.  I certainly think they welcome any constructive input.

I'm not going to deride the model itself, but I will say that if Lionel wants us to take these type of announcements more seriously, they need to hire either a proofreader that does not exist, or a more experienced one if they already have one on staff.

While the top part of the listing does show brass for the loco and tender body, it's messed up that later on they copied the generic die cast wording from other steam offerings.  This cut and paste laziness is getting a bit ridiculous, IMO.

While much less objectionable, the selection of what got lumped under the (1st) Legacy Railsounds bullet is also questionable.  What the heck do the die cast frame, individually numbered  (I get the road number and crew talk part) and kinematic drawbar have to do with Legacy Railsounds? .  Or maybe that heading should have said something else, since there is a second Legacy Railsounds section further down(with some duplication).  Either way, it shows poor care in the presentation of the features.

There is no drama so sweet and compelling as one's own drama .  That's a big reason internet forums exist.  How much of this sort of stuff can any one spouse, partner, confidant, priest, etc. take over a life-time?  Voilà the internet, confessional of last resort.
