Since Santa (disguised as a UPS guy) delivered this fabulous new engine from Lionel on Christmas Eve, I thought that it would be only fitting to honor him with the engine first being placed on the North Pole layout. You have to see one of these engines in person to appreciate it fully, but I hope the photos will help.

The engine is definitely worth the wait.

Brian -

I see the El Cap on the upper level and the Day Light on the lower, I must ask you one question.

How does your wife EVER get you out of the house?

Enjoy your new horses and thanks for posting the pictures.

Fair enough, guys, you either get these fantasy models or you don't. Probably has something to do with the reason that I'm not into 3-rail, either.

For years, I wondered why the ACs often never carried a road name. I was told that the stack being so close to the tender, the road name was blacked out after a few passes through tunnels or snowsheds. I never knew for sure if that was a correct reason, though.

Then you wouldn't be an SP guy; you'd be a fantasy paint scheme guy.

As a matter of fact, I have been known to dabble in the fine art of developing tasteful paint schemes to fit the bill:

To my eye, I think they should have run the colors all the way to the back of the engine with a swoopty down to match the lines of the tender in back, and kept them straight in front with a silver flat face in the front only for an accent.  I'd like to see that look from someone's computer.  I think it would sleeker, more put together, and meaner looking, using it's length and paint scheme better.  Now you got something.  Just a thought.  Enjoy.

"Just wondering if you have put any of those passenger cars with the engine yet? If so how do the colors, and the lines match?"

Bill, I brought one of the passenger cars in from the barn and the match is excellent. I good not hoped for a better result. This is going to be an awesome passenger train.

How about some pics of the K-line NP northcoast limited also. I swear I was looking at the exact same thing on ebay buy it now and by the time I confirmed the funds it was gone and that was the second time around. I had sat on the fence and watched it go buy once. was hoping for a lower relisted price. I have since promised Santa never to sit on the fence again.
