I have been putting off updating the TIU and remote for a long time mainly because I thought it sounded complicated
I plan on getting the Wi-Fi module so upgrading to 5.0 is mandatory. So I read up on upgrading in Barry's book, rounded up the necessary cables and dug into doing the upgrade.
The upgrade worked flawless with no bumps in the road. Considering how hesitant I was about doing a DCS upgrade all along it turned out to be a no big deal.
One thing that did throw me a bit. I had a coiled handset cord as required but found the cord had a slightly bigger connector on one end then the other. I had a couple more but they all had a different sized plugs at each end. I finally did find one that had the smaller plug at each end and that worked out great.
I never knew there are different sized connectors for a 4 wire.
At first I felt silly not knowing that since my first full time job was a telephone installer/repairman. But then I remembered that was long before they had even invented modular plugs.
All I need now is a call from Legacy Station telling me to come pick up my wi-if module.
