The Twin Whistle Fire Station is coming along. I am letting the paint cure before applying mortar. The roofs are on crooked but not attached as yet.

A number of years ago i was passing through the Connecticut city of Westport and passed an amazing old fire station that was no longer in use by the city. It was a beautiful brick and still had its original hose tower. Fortunately, I had my camera with me and stopped and photographed it from all angles. When iu got home I made scale drawings from the photos and eventually built it out of card stock for my WSR layout. Attached are two photos that show its from as well as a side view showing the hose tower. I also have made the drawings and directions available for other modelers and anyone is invited to contact me for a set (at a nominal cost) via my website at www.fredmdole.com. (I thought I had it on the website but don't; sorry.

Fred, I remember that you did an article many years ago about this type of construction and I thought it was building this structure. If my memory is correct, do you recall the issue it was in. I remember being fascinated (and still am) by what could be achieved with paper and a LOT of talent. Good to see this wonderful structure again.
Thanks for posting,

Fred, thanks for the information. I am a little blown away that it has been almost 25 years since the article was published. Guess I have been admiring your work and the profess of your layout as well as your tributes to the Delta Line RR more years that I thought. I am trying to locate that back issue.
Thanks and happy railroading,

first is a plasticville fire house that was modified to be used in a paid fire department. Living quarters added. The MTH operating fire house is now a fire museum named after my late father who was our departments fire historian. third is a custom lionel fire car I figured fit in this post
Finally got the Twin Whistle Fire Station done. I need to add decals and it is ready to go. The kit was very straightforward to build. The walls did not have any warp. The only issue I had was gluing up the large roof. That took a bit of thinking.

My compliments, that is one nice station. What are you going to house in it. I emailed Twin Whistle, they can build me a 4 bay kit. What is the depth? Just wondering if two ALF series pumpers would fit tandem. Have two, along with a aerial and quad

Gorgeous station Joe.
I hope I don't have any fires as a fire station is one structure I don't have yet.
