Good source for a large, detailed model Christmas tree?

Lemax has strings of small LEDs, in multi-color or white, presented with the LEDs pushed through holes in a piece of card stock. 50-count if I remember correctly.

They come with a battery box that also has a jack for their battery-eliminator power supplies.

I have used them to make my own trees also.

One of those Lionel trees was on eBay last week.  The last bid I saw was around $17.  I don't know what it went for.  It's from the 2000 catalog so may be a little challenge to find a good one, but they are there.

Lemax has both 6 and 10" trees in multi color and strobing white also on the 10" variety. The multi color light trees can be found on there website.  I have not seen the multi color lighted ones at stores in some time now.  Last year I purchased through their website 6 of each multi color and the white strobing for a display I built for a friend.  If there is not enough embellishment on them, Michaels sells some very nice assortmentsof decorations that could be used to make the trees look a little better.  Good luck with your project!

I bought a Lemax tree at K-Mart yesterday..."bottle brush" type, ornaments (no lights), about 6", nice at under $5. I have it in my town square.

At this time of year there are model Christmas trees in dollar stores as part of Christmas village sets.  The ones I saw had individual branches decorated with snow. Some are lighted, but use batteries. Maybe not as elaborate as Dept 56 or Lemax. These may also be useful for background scenes.

Walmart also has the 10" trees with snow.
