Specking of Grand Central the Lionel layout at the MTA Museum/Store is still up and will be through February. Fewer crowds just as fun.

Got mine today. .  Anyone know how to adjust the clock?

 

You'll need to pull the clock out of station and remove the clear plastic grommet that's around the bezel. Once that is off, use fingernail or small tool to pull stem out and set...

As of today, we have not gotten a invoice for ours yet from Lionel. Hoping tonight it comes. I assume that the ones people got were from Lionel direct?

Yes, Charlie, LIONEL direct thru the LRRC.  I got my e mail shipping notice this afternoon

The big question is....where is it made?  China or the USA?

From the photos, I think it looks pretty good. Should be a nice compliment to a lot of layouts.

This is crazy.  I ordered mine the day it was announced and haven't heard a thing.  I asked the LRRC through their order page about the status and got a boilerplate reply that it's "processing".  Asked again and haven't heard a thing.  

 

On another topic.  What serial numbers did you get?  Dorcie?

Just got off the phone with Lionel Customer service. Should have never wasted my time emailing them.   They told me my CC was declined.  Well of course it was!  I order it 8 months ago and my card had to be replaced since then.  No notification of this.  They now say it will go out in 2-3 business days,  I guess I'm waiting another week or so.  Frustrating!

 

Oh well, there goes my hope of getting serial number 1!!  

Hopefully it will be worth the wait in spite of the frustrations.  In the picture it looks really good.

Mine was delivered today. Really nice. Just what most Ogaugers need: a credible replica in a size that works for many typical layouts.

Congratulations to everyone on the arrival of their GCT. I remberember admiring them at the Lionel booth of a past York. Great piece and a perfect size. I even considered changing an area of my layout to accommodate it but it was just another train wish that died.

 

Enjoy the heck out of them. I'm looking forward to seeing some great pictures of them in place on layouts throughout the world. Indeed an iconic structure.  

Question about the light bulb that came with it.  If you put it in place in the hole under the unit, the bulb bracket extends lower than the Station itself.  This cause the Station bottom to wobble since it sits higher than it should where the light hole is.  

 

I have found the hole was not moulded very well, so it doesn't fully sit in the building. I have written Trainworx for advice on how to rout out that opening without risking any damage. I'll post here when I hear back.

If anyone attempts the conversion from the single harsh large bulb to LED lighting would you please post step by step instructions and photos?  Thank you.

Who has received their GCT and where did you order it from?

Only one's shipped were from the LRRC and not stores yet according to Howard Hitchcock at Lionel. Due to a box problem they should ship tomorrow to direct accounts and wholesalers.

Charlie thanks for info on GCT. Is Lionel shipping anything else?

I received mine a few days ago.  I think it looks very nice.  The working clock is a nice touch.  Haven't lite it up yet but I will soon.  

 

Lionel did a great job in getting it out very quickly after my card issue was addressed.  

 

I received number 58 of 2013.  It's gonna be worth a fortune some day!  <G>

 

 

I received mine about a week ago. I had trouble with inserting the bulb and bracket and I used a small rasp to widen the hole. I bit the bullet doing this but I didn't want to return it for such a simple fix. Everyone seeing it is impressed as I am.

Can you still pull the light fixture out of the hole?  Did you do anything to the bracket?

 

I inquired of Lionel on the status of the $50 voucher that was offered as part of the LRRC pre-sale and here's what I received.

 

"Your voucher is being processed and will be sent out soon."

FWIW, I just got a voucher good at the Lionel Store.  It was for 25USD, not 50 and is good thru April 30.

Did you receive 1 or 2 $25 vouchers?  The email I received in April announcing this stated 2  x $25 vouchers would be sent.

Yes, I can do so. I did pinch the metal brackets toward the socket to properly seat the fixture and it will not scrape the floor when it is set down. I found this to be a minor adjustment to a great accessory.

I have my “mini” GCT displayed in my office and true enough it is a bit awkward to fit the bulb in the hole but once I squeezed the metal wings tightly in, it just slid right in place. Once the bulb is in, I simply fit the electrical cord in the grove so it sits evenly on the surface.

After I squeezed the metal wings tightly together, it easily slid into place. Maybe I have an advantage with the size of my hand, have you tried using pliers?

The email was for one voucher, one coupon.  I guess another is forthcoming down the road.  Still not a bad deal and I like the GCT.

Why should you have to fiddle with the light to get it in the hole on a brand new item from Lionel?

same thing happened to me, but they called me to inform me about it.

That's a nice shot of the 'Baby Blue Comet'.  I just rebuilt a Postwar one for a customer.

 

I don't have this accessory but if'n I did I would probably find a way to lightly tarnish the clock bezel.  IMO it's just too shiney for the rest of the look.

I contacted Lionel about this.  I guess I'll hear from them next week.  Seems strange.  the offer email clearly states $50 voucher.  It says it TWICE,  And then to only receive $25 with no indication of anything to follow.  We shall see.
