Has anybody add smoke unit in Lionel and Williams diesel engines

I added a smoke unit to a Williams Powered / MTH C30-7. I would advise doing the series(or parallel?) wiring mod to slow the locomotive down so the smoke unit gets enough power to smoke decent.

I replaced the dead Sueth unit on my Williams 671 with a Lionel fan driven unit that I bought from BoxCar Bill. I suspect that this same unit could be used in many applications. You simply build a plastic box around it to hold it in place.

I put a standard Lionel fan driven smoke unit in two Williams E's.I made a U shaped mounting bracket out of brass. The biggest problem was a log manifold toput soke out of all 4 stacks. It took some adjusting but it wil;l work. You will need to put a switch in serries with one lead in order to turn it off. I picked up the power from dirrectly from a pickup. I hope this helps.
