Hello,

I have been having a heck of a time programming a Lionel Legacy Genset to work with a MTH DCS/TMCC command base. I have been helping a friend with his new layout. He is new to O Gauge. I have quite a few years of experience; by no means do I claim to be an expert. However, I helped him setup his layout to operate identical to mine, MTH DCS, TIU, AIUs and TMCC Command with a Z1000 on a fixed channel. We both have several of the latest Gensets by Lionel. I have been able to program all of them to operate on my layout. However, one of his Gensets will not allow me to program it to his layout. I have tried everything that I know including setting up a separate programming track section. Like I said, they all work on my layout, just not on his.  I have spent countless hours trying and re-trying, over and over. In the past I have had several of my locos require me to keep trying and they eventually would program. However this one particular loco does the same thing every time I try to program it to his system. Every time I have the loco in prg mode, instead of being silent, it power up as if it is starting. Does anyone have any ideas? Both TIU’s and remotes have the latest MTH updates. Thanks in advance.

If it is a Lionel engine the MTH equipment should not matter as long as the command base has power before the tracks do. If the track has power prior to the base, it will miss the Lionel signal and start in conventional. Since it works on your layout, it would be something at his?

Thanks for the response Lima. I understand what you are saying. However, he has 2 other engines on the track, 1 TMCC and 1 Legacy/Vision. Wouldn't there be a problem with the others? They all work fine.
