Greetings all, this is my first post to this forum. My three sons love model trains and my oldest has been running a Thunder Valley (1302 Dockside) for about 9 years since his grandfather got it for him nine years ago when he was 5.

Recently, a younger cousin was over visiting, who when playing with the train dumped way too much smoke fluid in (unbeknownst to us) and the thing was literally a cloud of smoke from all directions. When I came in and saw what was happening, I shut it down. However, I noticed that the insulation on some of the wires was melted off.

The train will not run now and my son is pretty devastated. I opened up the train and saw a couple of wires are pretty badly damaged. The circuit boards show no visible damage, but who knows?

I've never repaired trains before, so I am asking. Is this repairable? Maybe professionally? Or is it a loss?

The boys have been building a layout all winter (mostly on their own), learning wiring (like insulated sections, et cetera). It been great to see them excel at something I don't. I hope we can figure this out.

Thanks.

Jon Adamson
