Been working on a few upgrade projects.  Here is a picture of PS-32 into a Lionel 2-8-2.  Have Tender completed, have to add smoke to engine.  This is the older DCRU Lionel, so I custom build a harness using a Diesel PCB to fit in the original slot on tender.  This is where the tether comes out of the engine vice tender.

Also an MTH PR 4-6-0 G5 with ERR installed.  This was unique in isolating the tender shell from the frame for antenna.  The rear steps are removable and a friction fit to the frame and unfortunately the shell.  Besides isolation with kapton tape, nylon fittings, I had to file a gap into the steps to keep in from contacting shell at the corner.

Last is a New Atlas RS-3 converted to PS-3 Diesel.  Atlas have very smooth running diesels.  Sounds with the latest PS-3 RS-3 sound set are amazing.   G

George, I'm very intrigued by this one!  I just received my Atlas RS3, and although I LOVE how it runs, the sound set leaves a lot to be desired IMO.  Only four engine sound levels (instead of the prototypical 8) and weak max volume output, for example.  I like the sounds in MTH's RS3 soooo much better.

Could you email me at the address in my profile when you have a chance to give me a price quote on converting it to PS3?  Thanks.

Here is another one.  This is the K-Line Interurban.  I used the RS 4.0 MU Sound set which is very much more prototypical than the ERR Electric sound set.

Unique here is the Bi Directional Markers on both units controlled via the Motor power. Replicated that with the Cruise Lite and it functioned nicely.  I had to move one interior light bulb that was over the RS package.  Moved it forward to the passenger compartment.  These are series wired lights so I had to use a jumper in the new position.  This also had an unused trace running the length of the light board, so I ran the antenna wire and soldered it to that trace.  Should give better reception.

I also remove the Series parallel motor switch, but retained the junction pad, just had to do some rewiring on it.  But it was a nice junction box for powering the cruise lite and motors.  I stood it up vertically for room.

This was an interesting project, with more hours in than billable

Thanks Guys.  Thomas, this one had all the original DCRU stuff in it and I was able to see how it was all set up, the previous one was ERR upgraded that the customer wanted converted to PS-2.   Lionel sure packed a lot of stuff into that engine.  I need to get inventive on the smoke mount, the chassis is blocking the fan motor location fro alignment.  I may need to go to the shorter Lionel fan motor.  G

Joe, Sent you an e-mail yesterday.  George

Very nice work. It is also very nice of you (GRJ and some of the others here) to take the extra time on these to make them just right, even though you don't always recoup your investment in time. You must have to love your work and that is really great customer service as well.

How did you determine the latest PS-3 RS-3 sound files? I have a RK scale RS-3 that I would like to update to the latest sound set. It is a - 30-20215-1 - PS-3 - RK Scale - Interstate - RS-3 from MTH 2014 V1 catalog. I usually always have trouble finding the most current files and then determining if it is the right one for my engine if I do find one. Thanks for any tips (or links ) you can offer.
