Can you safely hook lights and couplers to the ERR Cruise Board and not short out the electronics since each of those items are directly grounded to the chassis???? Help ...Do not wish to fry a board!!!!

Should be no problem. ERR uses chassis ground as signal ground and post war couplers are compatible with ERR as well.

Thanks Pete.
Are you using AC/ DC commander or Cruise Commander? The cruise commander is for can motors and not original AC open frame motors.
I assume you mean an AC Commander for your engine. You may wish to run a single wire only from the coupler to the ERR board and rely on chassis ground to complete the circuit. If so, plug that wire into the front coupler receptacles inner pin, closest one to the heat sinc.
Disconnecting the coupler pick-up shoes from the coupler will prevent coupler misfiring. It also keeps inadvertent shorting from disturbing your new electronic.

Removing the shoes will solve the problem of them hooking switches if you're no longer using them for the couplers.
Thanks to all of you folks for the prompt responses to my inquiry. Yes, I am using an AC Commander unit and the hints as to which pins to use for the coupler hook up since it only needs the single wire.
The 2-pin coupler connector has ground and coupler. The pin away from the rear edge of the board is the active pin to connect to the coupler, your coupler already has ground.
If you want to go further, you can have an operating coupler and directional headlight in the dummy unit. You will need a tether with at least 3 wires. In the powered unit connect the one lead to the rear coupler plug, another lead to the rear light and another into the AC Hot In the dummy unit, disconnect the coupler from the shoe and connect it to the coupler wire. Disconnect the center rail wire from the light and connect it to the AC Hot wire. Connect the rear light lead to the hot connection on your light bulb. In additional to having an operating coupler and light in the dummy, you now have an extra set of rollers to stop stalling on switches.
Again, Thanks to all of you for the suggestions.
