First of all let me note I'm very frugal.

Remember that word...FRUGAL!

I run  1 loop of O gauge trains on my layout. I recently acquired my first and only O gauge  DCS equipped engine. It is the MTH 30-2721-1 RAILKING SCALE MKT GP-7 DIESEL ENGINE with PROTOSOUND 2.0.

The engine is new and works great.

The issue is my layout is controlled by TMCC.  I use the TMCC command base to control my Lionel command engines and I also incorporate a TMCC Powermaster to control my non-command engines.

I can operate the new engine by conventional operation with the TMCC cab 1. All functions work as designed...bell, horn, direction, speed etc.

The one feature (WELL ALSO THE COIL COUPLERS)  that is difficult to control with the cab 1 is the Freight Yard announcements. I was able to get them to work but only by entering the multiple button presses as detailed in the manual.

The TMCC cab 1 buttons are pretty sensitive and sometimes it's hard to complete the button strikes as called for without sounding  the horn.

So I remembered the inexpensive  DCS remote commander which has a specific button to access the "Freight yard effects".

So...is it possible to add the DCS remote commander to my TMCC wiring?

I know the Remote commander requires a line of sight connection with it's remote  and I could maybe make that work with my wiring.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Mark

Just connect the red terminal to the center rail and the black terminal to an outside rail, and you're done. The DCS Remote Commander will get its power from the track.

DCS Book CoverThis and a whole lot more about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!"

This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
