The Menards cars are exactly the size of a scale 40' boxcar, the only difference is the width is about 3/32 narrower.  If you have a scale boxcar, put it behind and you'll see what it looks like.  I also like the Menards cars are closer coupled than others, makes them look even better in a string.

That depends on the prototype box car to which you are comparing.  The mendrds cars are close to the size of a 1/48 scale USRA boxcar from 1918.  They are much smaller than a late 1930-1950s size 40' boxcar like the AAR, Milwaukee Road rib side, X31, B&O wagon top or PS-1
