Probably not worth a thread, but here you go:

My Lionel (700E clone) J1e 5344, with the classification lights, incorrect for this loco late in life (post-CV and -Mercury streamlining; PT tender; Scullin drivers):

Class lights removed, paint touch-up:

(Of course, among other things, the shiny cut bar could use some black acrylic, and how about that big plastic hose TMCC insulator (needed?) on the handrail? We do pick and choose what bothers us, don't we?)

The real 5344 at the the same time of life as the model's representation - no class lights:

Good to hear the comments about the plastic tubing and antenna; I figured as much, having done multiple ERR upgrades and figured if electrical tape could insulate a tender body from the frame, an air gap like that wouldn't be a problem - but I hadn't messed with them yet. I'll remove them when I attack the loco again - I need to change the "5429" on the rear of the Lionel ESE PT tender.

RON H - that weathered J1 looks great - K-line or brass? (That's how good the K-line was - excusing the bit of "U-boiler" - which I do.) But - where's the bell...?
