Jason, I actually got notified on the video this morning from YouTube. Another such YouTuber is going to be tearing his down as well, but things are not bright and sunny on his end. I was hoping his follow up video was going to be something where he was able to make some changes to his initial assessment of what he needed to do, but it was to let all the people messaging him to give him some space.

I guess Jason it is going to be a bit like last time with your layout. That is we won't know much until you show off the space, have already built some, updates, plans, etc., etc. keep us hungry for the great stuff to come.

Just got caught up on this Jason.  Just watched it on YouTube.   You are doing the right thing.  Tell hobby is awesome, family is more awesome.  Shelby will love the bigger house and closer to family is all good.  You'll rebuild bigger and better, cant' wait to watch.   Good luck to you!

Thank you @42trainman By the way, my wife is from Spring, TX. We visit her family there often.

I don't think I posted this here yet. This is the schematic I worked up for my plans in the new basement. It's the same layout but with a wider/extended peninsula area. There will be much more room in the basement for other activities and to host large groups. Now all I need is the time and money to actually get it done, Hah!

That’s a great plan in a really nice room, Jason!  Since you liked the plan in the other house, using it again in a larger room lets you add a yard and make it even better.

get rid of as much of the utility room as you can, and the gym; look at expanding into the "TV" area.

claim the entire basement. let her have the garage.

I believe the OP is recently married.....and still likes his wife.   

Good thinking,  keeping the layout plan and careful dismantling.   As a young guy, the gym is interesting, as an old guy here, hahaha    gym has a better use hahahah   You're a smart dude,  you'll get it all under control.

Nice space.

If there's one thing that separates a great layout space from a good one, it is a bathroom.  Nice to see that you'll have one.

One thought - if possible, add a utility sink.  Your wife will thank you.
