I have 1 aquarium car. It comes out for Christmas. While sitting for the year, the plastic that is the scene stuck to the rollers (I turned on the car, it made a griding motor noise, but no scene movement). I was able to gently free the plastic and it has run fine, ever since. One day,I want to hear another car to determine if I damaged mine. It is louder than a steamer at a reasonable volume.

That said, each year I open it and make sure it isn't stuck. I suppose, if you ran it regularly, it wouldn't happen.
Same here... I have the Penguin Christmas car, and after 11 months of storage the film sticks. It also holds it's "rounded" form a bit where the film was against the rollers... I just take it off & flatten it out (similar to flattening out a rolled up piece of paper).

I have a trout one that sees regular action all year & no issues.

They are a bit on the noisy side.

Here's a video with a few shots of the cars -
