I am trying to extend the insulated track zone before a Lionel Fastrack grade crossing with flashing signals. I am not using the two 5 inch sections that came with this accessory. Instead I have made my own 10 inch insulated track and then some. But to extend the insulated zone further out I will need to cross over a 90 degree crossover. On the 90 degree crossover I removed the silver plate that connects the two outer rails in one direction and I removed the pin from that insulated rail as well. BUT even after all that the signal is only activated by the 10 inch track immediately next to the accessory. Is it possible to insulate one rail going in one direction only on a Lionel Fastrack 90 degree crossover? Also, what am I doing wrong that does not allow the insulated zone to be extended out. One member said to file off the end of the pinless rails so they do not touch another rail section. Is that really necessary?
