The drumhead light on my K-Line Heavweight observation car has burned out.

I replaced it with a larger grain of wheat bulb I had on hand, but now the drumhead looks like a headlight.

What bulb do I need, and is there a resistor (and associated value) that I should put in line to extend the life  of the bulb?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has done this before

I solved that problem by making a small PCB 0.4" in diameter with six surface mount LED's on it.  I used up the ones I have, so I only have the CAD 3D representation of it.  I have to get more boards.  The resistor at R1 is selected for brightness and is dependent on the input DC voltage.  It would also be possible to add a series diode and run this from AC track power as well.
