Which Lionel DCDS should be used to replace a Kline motor driver? The K-line engine is an F-7 K-25305 dual motor with cruise control. The only identifier to be found on the motor driver board is "MDK-090 Rev D". Will the "691-DCDS-YU1 DCDS Odyssey 1 Motor Driver/ Universal" work? Or is there a better recommendation? Thank you, Hank

If this has factory K-Line Cruise the board is unique. You may find K-Line cruise kits on the auction sites that should work or try the Wanted to Buy forum. You could also replace it with an ERR Cruise M but if this board is driving 4 motors it you would have little headroom if the engines stalled.

Thank you. I was worried that was the case. Yes, it is a factory board. Off to EER Cruise M. Have a few of them on the shelf.
You can't use the Odyssey DCDS for the K-Line replacement, you don't have the tach sensor. The ERR CC-M is the correct replacement.
How much wiring has to change??
You have to do a bit of wiring as the K-Line cruise doesn't use the PWM outputs from the R2LC. If they used a Lionel motherboard, which many do, the 4-pin connector is there, you just need to supply the cable to the CC-M. Next, you will have to run the CC-M serial connection to pin-24 of the R2LC socket, and for diesels, you'll likely need need to connect the "duty" output of the CC-M to the chuff input of the R2LC to manage the diesel ramp-up.
