Lash up issues

I have tiw MTH Pemier locomotive which will nnot lashup They are: MTH Premier 20-2608-1 NKP GP 30 #904 Proto 2 and 20-20249-1 NKP #482 Proto 3.0 I have reset them ,cancelled and added back and changed from lead to second unit. Any suggestions. Thanks to all who respond When I start the 482, it smokes even though I have it turned off. When the 904 leads, the 482 will pull, but no engine sounds.
