Running trains last night and the 990 went blank.  Can't find electrical problems, all lights  work on the trains, the trains are not getting the signal from the 990.

Batteries are not overly hot.

Same thing happened last year and Lionel fixed it but offered no reason for the problem.

I read somewhere that  putting new batteries (not recharable) may fix the problem.

Anyone else having this problem. I have not called Lionel yet.

All advice welcome

thanks

I had that exact same problem a few times in the past.

I thought it was a controller problem until I used an external charger with a meter to charge the original batteries and discovered one by one the batteries were going bad. The original batteries supplied by Lionel are pure junk.  Throw them out. Mine went weak quick then went bad to the point the external recharger wouln't recharge at all. You'd never realize that using the legacy recharger.

I switched to a set of new Duracell rechargable batteries and cured the problem quick.
