I have legacy #990 Base, Cab 2 remote. I need new batteries for Cab 2 remote. I have been using Energizer AA recharge. They seem to work pretty good. What rechargeable batteries would you all recomend? Thanks!

Pretty much any NiMh AA battery will work fine, I use the Tenergy Centura LSD batteries in mine. I search for the best price, last time it was Amazon. One tip, don't use the Lithium primary batteries, the fact they have a higher voltage seems to make the CAB2 draw more current and quickly discharge them.
I've been using Energizer power plus NIMH rechargeables with good results.
I don't run my trains everyday, but several weeks, if not a couple months go by, before they need charging.
I do charge them in an external charger however. So my remote/base can be off when not in use.
I have the #993 charging base, so I alternate the two CAB2 remotes in the charger. When I see the one that's not in the charger getting low on battery, I swap the two on the layout. Since all the information is in the command base, that is a seamless transfer, not like swapping DCS remotes!
Nothing but Panasonic Eneloops in my ancient CAB-1's. Given the price of CAB2s, I wouldn't put anything else in them.
Granted the batteries were from 2012, I had an Energizer NiMH AA battery go bad and melt the case "Wissblue LCD-4" charger that was supposed to stop charging a shorted or overheating battery, and it did not.
Thank you all for your responses! I'll get some batteries you all recommended!
