My Legacy handheld controller died a quick death.  I sent it in to Lionel for repairs but the ticket said it was replaced.  They put some widgets in the base and upgraded everything to V1.5.  Looks like they transferred all of my engine data over to the new handheld.  Only problem is my locomotives are not responding.

I am sure it is something simple but what do I need to do in order to get things going again?

Marty is on to something.  When you enter a new engine, I believe they default to Legacy.  Perhaps in the transfer of the information, they all got set to Legacy.  That would result in no movement.   Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt.

Sorry for the delay guys...it's a little hectic around here.  Part of the reason for the delay also is that the problem is more complex than first thought. Let's start from square one.

I have a Cab-1 and a Legacy controller, both with base units.  I have used them for a few years now.   I use the Lionel serial connectors. Then the Legacy controller went dead and sent in for repair.  They did some electronic stuff to the base and ended up replacing the controller.  They also did the upgrade.

While the Legacy was away I transferred the common (U) to the Cab-1 and it performed the little bit that I used it.

I moved the wire back to the upgraded Legacy base when it came back.  Here is the problem because none of the engines would respond to the new Legacy or the old Cab-1.  The Legacy controller did list the TMCC engines as TMCC controlled.

I swapped the common wire from the Legacy to the Cab-1.  When I powered up the track the locos took off out of control.  So I have since moved the wire back to the Legacy.  The Cab-1 controller is able to signal my Legacy engine that is currently on the track.

I am confused.  Not sure just where to start over at.

This morning I reconnected the common wire to the Cab-1 base and disconnected the serial connector from the Legacy.  The Cab-1 controller is working on each of the locomotives on the layout.  So we know the engines are listening and they know their addresses.

How should I go about bringing the Legacy controller back into the mix?

Well I transferred the common wire back to the Legacy, connected the Legacy connector and the power cord.  Everything is somehow working fine.  I could call each engine.  The bottom right hand square red LED flickers when a signal is sent.  The version of the controller and base are 1.52.

Thanks guys for hanging with me on this.  Not sure what we really did to make it work but that's OK.
