Legacy frustration

Have you tried reprogramming the id# of your loco? Often times Lionels service department gives locos a new id# for testing in case they have multiple similar units being repaired or so they don't have to guess what number you gave it.

I saw something about reprogramming the loco in the instructions, so that's something to try in the morning. thanks.

When Lionel works on them the usually reprogram them to id #1. Have you tried to address the engine as engine #1?

Not necessarily, they will give it whatever id# they feel like. In my case I had programmed my loco with the last two digits of the cab number. Lionel returned the loco programmed to respond to the first two digits of the cab number, I discovered this after I experienced the same sinking feeling that Jim has, thought about it for a minute then experimented with the other cab number digits. If 1 doesn't work you can try the other two numbers that you didn't originally use however its easiest just to reassign your original i.d.#

I just reprogram them for what I want them to be, saves guessing.

If you have a newer Legacy engine try ID 99

Set it to your own engine #.  It is probably programmed to ENG1 right now.

Factory reset

I rested the remote, and re entered the locomotive.

almost set now.

The locomotive is recognized, and runs fine. All features function fine.

only problem is the cab light is flashing, one continuous flash.

saw an earliest post that says one flsh indicates main drive motor stall, but mine it's running. 

Says to rest engine, but short of taking it out of the remote, I don't know how she's reset the locomotive.

Read the manual its in the book.

I have, and apparently there are different versions of the manual.

in an earlier post there is a reference to pg 31 where the tinfoil is printed, and a screen shot of part of the page. In the manual that came with mine, the information isn't there. 36 page manual, ad I don't see anything like the chart in the earlier post.

Try the R icon button on the remote while the locomotive is addresed.

Have removed the loco from remote, and reinstalled,

what loco are we talking about?  there are different codes to do a factory reset.

If you look in the manual that comes with all Lionel engines, ther is a reprograming code

to plase the program of that engine back the the defalt when ti came from the factory.

Please use the reprograming code from the engine manual not the one from the hand

controlers.
