Constructing O gauge 3 rail layout, purchasing Legacy sound system. Will MTS engines sound work with Lionel Legacy system?
I am new to three rail and new to sound systems.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I assume that you mean "MTH" engines and, no, they will not, without some additional hardware.
To run them conventionally you'll need either a Lionel TPC or Powermaster, plus a Lionel cable.
To operate them under command control, you'll need a DCS TIU and Remote (best), a DCS Commander or a DCS Remote Commander.
To add to what Barry said, Legacy is a control system.
There is a sound version that the Legacy engines have called Legacy Sound that includes expanded options from previous Lionel sound packages.
