I have my original 2046W from the 50s, and I just got a second pretty good one. I previously discovered (I think) that fixed colors wouldn’t necessarily be correct when the direction changed, so I shelved the project. Since I don’t have history with the new one, I’d now like to add lights to it in the most correct configuration. IIRC, that would be 3 red lights for the forward direction, right?

Another issue on this.  Back when I first considered doing this I saw a single plastic lens with 3 nibs for the 2046.  I believe it was on the bay.  I had it in my cart for awhile until I decided to not do it.  I just checked there and also a few of the larger OGR supporters that have large part inventories and couldn't find it.  Does anyone have a part number on that?

Thanks @Mike M and @Train Nut, I appreciate the info.

I actually did something similar to my 60 Trolley fleet.  I first melted a small hole in the outside plastic light frame with a pencil tip soldering iron.  Then I carefully cleaned, scraped, and prettied up the hole so it was just large enough to put in my LEDs.  For the #60 it was a 5 mm flat top warm white LED to simulate a headlight, and for the 2046 I used 3 mm round top red LEDs.  From the inside, in addition to taping the kynar wires to the frame, I put liquid electrical tape around the holes to eliminate light leakage and prevent the lights from jiggling as the car moved.  It came out looking pretty good.

Yes on the bay they have the 2671 light bars 2 for 5.00 then shipping for about 4.00 ,only saw 1 seller who has 8 pairs .

Added light bar to several tenders in past that already had the holes there . Very easy to setup one wire to power and other to screw holding light fixture to tender frame for ground but its not directional .
