Hi everyone, just wondering if a shell from a GP9 (38878) will plop onto a GP7 (28592) frame? In that same vein, does the November Lionel parts sale typically include shells? That B&M looks sharp and I already have the GP7. Thanks

I don’t know about swapping the shell but any part that is available gets the 50% off.
Well its good to know about the discount. If they are the same tooling they should fit. Anyone know how to cross reference the tooling or models in general?
Well I ordered the shell during the Lionel parts sale and answered my own question. It does in fact fit and fits well. However, Lionel does not have the rear cover/fan housing in stock. Also, the lighting connectors on the GP9 shell are very different from the GP7 as they are 2 wire vs. 6 wire connectors. So my follow-up questions are this:
1. What spraypaint is a direct match for the B&M blue on this model? The rear cover/fan housing from the GP7 fit the GP9 shell but are a much darker shade of blue so I want to repaint them to match.
2. Any tips on removing the pilots for painting? Same deal here, the pilots are a much darker blue and need repainting to the bluebird scheme.
I will probably work on the lighting later but if any tips come forth for converting the lighting scheme I am all ears. Thanks in advance for any help.
