We bought this engine a while ago, and tried it on our test track using a Legacy Base, Cab-2 and a Z-4000.  Everything worked as it should.  It has been on display ever since.  We just pulled it out to run on our new LCS layout.  When we set the engine on the track and turned on track power, it shows a short -- the overload light on the transformer blinks red, volts go up to only about 5.6 and the amps are 9.9.  We can hear the engine humming.  We tried resetting it, but it did not work.  Any ideas what might be happening?

I know a lot of folks like to fix their own Locomotives, see where the problem is, etc..

I think from the sound of this situation that I would call Lionel Service for a Return Aurthrization...(RA).  Its probably under Warranty, and If you take the engine apart, You might void the Warranty. Their Service Department is Really Dependable, Quick, and Thorough.....Good Luck, Happy Railroading!
