My Lionel legacy Pennsylvania h-10 #1288 (6-84948) has a broken flywheel and I don’t know which part to get to replace it. When I looked at the parts list, there are two numbers surrounding the fly wheel. Part 14 and part 36. I am trying to figure out which one I am supposed to get or if I need both? If you could help clarify this for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

#14 is the complete motor, flywheel, and sensor. #36 is just the sensor board, so unless you've broken that PCB, you don't need that. Obviously, it's #14.
How did you manage to break the flywheel?
I have no idea. It was running perfectly fine, and then the engine just started speeding out of control. Took a look inside and the flywheel was broken in two pieces.
Wow! I've heard of exploding magnet rings before, but this is ridiculous!! How about some pics for posterity?
Since they don't sell "just the flywheel," you'll have to order part #14. The flywheel is easy to transfer over if you have a small Allen key. Having a spare motor and worm gear isn't a bad thing.
I no longer have the fly wheel to take pics of. Tried using a super glue to keep it together and it worked for a little bit. But once the engine started moving faster, it broke into several parts.
Lionel does show a flywheel with encoder that may work. You could order one when you order the complete motor. You may get lucky. May not be the same diameter or number of vanes but would assume Most made for the Mabuchi 385s are the same.
Pete
Good idea Pete, I was going to go look for one of those as it's hard to imagine it not being available. Of course, it's also very hard for me to imagine that solid brass flywheel broke in half, that's one I've never seen!
FWIW, I believe the Legacy standard is 60 spokes on the Legacy encoder wheel, that should be standard.
Isaac, did you get it fixed?
Getting the part shipped right now.
Unfortunately just as I was getting the order. I was informed that they longer have that part. By any chance would anyone have that part that I could purchase?
Did you look at Pete's post? Since the encoder board for the Mabuchi motors is the same for all of them, the flywheel will also have the correct sized toothed wheel for the sensor. There are probably a bunch of flywheels that should fit.
I was able to get in touch with Lionel, and they were able to find the part for me thankfully.
Great news. Keep us posted.
