There is a Oil Pump in the latest Lionel catalog 6-82016. Is this a re-issue or something new? I am wondering if this is a silent accessory with the motion of the arms or if there is a loud "click" on the down swing.

It's the same # as the one released in 2015 which was also released in 2005 as #34162. Sorry that I can't tell you much on the operation and sound, I have a few of them put I have never had them out of the box.
Looks like it would have a can motor in it and not a solenoid.
I have one and the motion is continuous and quiet. There is no loud click.

I have one of the newer ones, and it's rather loud. It's not a click, it's just is a loud motor noise.
If the "click" happens on the downstroke it may be the shaft bottoming out needing a slight adjustment.

Hi Neal - can you confirm which version. The quiet part is important and based on Sinclairs observations of a loud motor the current version may not cut the mustard.
Why mustard - I have no idea.
