Hi OGR...  need your help...

I am considering some Lionel Ore Cars that have the plastic AAR trucks.  Examples are D&RGW as pictured below.

I think LTI also made some ore cars with plastic trucks in the 1990s...

My question, are these truck plates glued on?  Can they be removed?  I would like to put on the Lionel Sprung Trucks such as used on some of the nicer ore cars...  anyone else swap trucks on these ore cars?

Thanks...

The black bracket that the trucks are attached to comes off of the car, ( I forget the proper name of this part, does not matter )if you look closely there are tabs on each side of the car body near the trucks, you have to carefully spread the body from the truck mount. Once this is off of the car you will see that the truck is riveted on. This rivet will have to be drilled out. I have done this to every Lionel Ore car that I own that came with the plastic trucks and upgraded them with die-cast trucks. Have patience and you will not break anything!!!

Good advice - but I have drilled truck rivets out "in place" on cars before, so it is an option, as not all - or most - plastic-trucked cars offer a removable bracket, etc. I say this because there are quite a few decent riveted plastic-truck cars out there that could use a truck upgrade, should you ever run across some that appeal to you.
