Assuming the Lionel Berks are true scale models, I noticed after watching a video of the prototypes in action on RFD-TV, the PE is slightly larger engine with bigger drivers then the NKP #765.

My question is for anyone that may know, since both Lionel models have the same sized drivers, which one has it sized correctly?

I always thought that the PM #1225 and the NKP #765 had the same 69" diameter drive wheels.

According to the narrator in the video, The PM is heaver, more powerful, has more HP with larger drivers.

Looking at some statistics for the two engines, it shows they both have 69" drivers.

Some other stats are: 1225 weighs 442,500, 765 weighs 440,800, 1225 engine+tender is 727,300, 765 engine+tender is 802,500, 1225 is 101' 8" long, 765 is 100' 8 3/4" long, both have 245 PSI pressure, 1225 has 69,350 lb tractive force, 765 has 64,135 lb tractive force.

1225 was built/completed in Dec. 1941, 765 was built/completed in Sept. 1944.

There's going to be some variation in these numbers, but for all intents and purposes, it appears there's not a great deal of difference between the engines - they're close to the same.

The narrator was incorrect about the drivers.  Like all AMC Berks NKP 765 and PM 1225 have 69" drivers.  As Breesinup points out, other than the TE difference based on cylinder diameter, the dimensional and weight differences are slight.
