Wow. I compliment you my friend on spotting this! No doubt this thread will go viral.
What a teaser for those who have ordered and are waiting for it.
Just finished watching this.
Looks amazing! Wish the video had some close-ups, interested to see the level of detail (although I believe it should be the same as the JLC version from a few years back).
Lafondue,
Thanks !!!!!
Alex
Did he mention how to get the smoke units in sync? JonZ alluded to this after the York show.
Might as well read along...Manual
It does explain the sync non sync stacks. It might be in the video too but I had to scoot through it.
Very cool model!!!
The smoke shroud is pretty cool. I did not know it came with that. I think its cool that it turns one of the smoke units off when the shroud is on.
Amazing,I can't wait for mine.
Thanks for posting this.
OH YEAH BABY!
A preview of great things to come!
I only see one problem-I'm not gonna' want to run any other locomotive!
So far, it looks Lionel has done this locomotive justice, and just in time for Christmas.
What, it has all those smoke units, but no smoke fluid?!? Guess I need to order some and hope it gets here before the locomotive does.
Boy, am I glad that I ordered one (4014).
sounds like they got the whistle right! wow!!!
sounds like they got the whistle right! wow!!!
And that whistle...it cuts through my soul!
This is going to make the waiting that much worse......

What a fantastic engine, i can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alex
FANTASTIC Lionel has several of these on the product pages what a GRETA feature!!
I hope someone at MTH is taking notice!!!
Steve
This was the ultimate teaser! Can't get here fast enough!

nice!
watched the entire video.
Collectors? What happened to Pick-ups?
That is a pretty impressive engine. Lots of neat features. I find it pretty amazing and fascinating that they can do all that electronically and get it all in a model train. Some pretty smart folks working on the feature set. Thanks for posting.
I loved the high speed chuff & smoke during the wheel slip sequence.....what an effect!
Collectors? What happened to Pick-ups?
They can't list them at $2700 if they call them "pick-ups", gotta have a fancy name.
Looks like there are going to be some really happy folks and a lot of "buz" here on the forum soon!!

I think we should all take the advice in the first few minutes of this video.
There is a lot of info in there and IMO this manual seems to cover all the bases. Lots of information of why, where, and whats. The chuff sync was one of them.
I like the wheel slippage feature, pretty cool.
Nice!
The only oddity on the wheel slippage is the wheels are not turning when the slippage sound is activated... guess you have to do that on your own.... there goes the the traction tires...

I took the advice to heart and have read the manual a couple times already. When it gets here, I'll have the knowledge to use the unique functions.
Great thinking on Lionel's part to post the manual prior to release.
I've got a bunch of PFE Reefers waiting to be spanked by this bad boy!
Video was very informative.....The tutorial coupled with a reading of the manual, is a must. I especially liked Mike's reassurance that the smoke units incorporated into the Visionline Big Boy were "very reliable." With 4 smoke units in this monster, the possibility of smoke unit failure, is a distinct possibility. Do not relish the idea of packing this up and shipping it back to Lionel for any warranty repairs.

a bit over the top, but impressive
I must say, that slipping wheel sound is very cool "real" impressive.
The best new sound I've heard in years..
BUT, IMO, that second smoke unit on the stack is silly and should have utilized elseware. (dynamo or cylinder steam???)
Overall, looks to be a really nice model.

I've said it before and will say it agian-it's going to be an epic locomotive!
At least until the next 'latest and greatest' arrives
Those who didn't buy one because of this or that and found scrutiny in it are probably rethinking that decision....
I don't want to get this thread off track...I'm glad Lionel gave us the option of 'sync' smoke!
I love the way it sounds. Honestly, that was what pushed me over the edge to order one. Plus, the short video Lionel posted on youtube last year showed how incredibly smooth it is..
When I get mine, I'll post a thread comparing the original BB (TMCC), the JLC version, and the VL model for everyone to see. Should be fun to see the progress in these models.

I'm guessing many of the "larger" dealers will have extras on hand for a few procrastinators. 6 months or a year from now, not so much.
When I saw it at York, the decision was made!

Rick,
You're right, sure the prices will reflect it also!
GRJ, Glad to hear. I wish I could of heard it at York!
Just FYI spent almost 40 min talking to Mike Reagan tonight for Notch 6. This engine is part of the discussion. Tune in on Monday for the latest update on the status of this locomotive direct from the man himself.
