This is fascinating for those of us on the West Coast, thank you Scott! So much stuff!
It looks to me like massive over-production and possible mis-reading of item and market demand for most of this stuff. What a fickle market us 3 railers are. Tough to fiqure out!
Thanks Scott
I've never seen so much LIONEL stock in one place before.
Amazing. I wonder what percentage of all this gets sold during this event.......
Thanks for the video !
Scott, grab me something good!
Thanks Scott. I'll be interested to hear if you see any Moguls or 21" passenger cars.
Pete
It's a shame that stuff like this and York never happen on the west coast. Totally not cost effective to fly to where these events happen, purchase and fly back home. There just has to be a better way! Don't get me wrong there are train shows, but mostly local clubs with layouts. Most of the dealers at these shows wants full retail price for their items.

None. Very few Legacy engines. Mostly LC+. 2 of our guys left AC9s. A couple of GG1s were seen. A few smaller Legacy diesels. Mostly SW2s.

Who in their right mind would buy the Mogel?
All depends on the price.
Pete
Well, I guess for $15-20 I might take a flier on one.
Gee Scott, looks empty in there! Where are all the shoppers?

The pictures were taken 15 minutes before the doors were open.

That would explain it.
Looks like a pretty well-organized presentation. I'm sure it would have been fun to meander around to see what was available. Any word on what the prices were like?
The video won't come in for me, it says this video can't be embedded...

My Brother Steve lives about 20 minutes away and went today and got quite a bit of rolling stock, engines, Christmas ornaments, and 50 bottles of Premium Smoke Fluid. He had a blast, said it was very crowded and totally enjoyed himself. He didn't expect to see Legacy or VisionLine items but was able to get everything on his list. His report - excellent
Looks a little like my basement.
Picked up a Legacy Pierre Marquette 1225 and a Legacy N&W Y6 on Friday Night went back Saturday to check out a Vision Line GG1 I saw but it already had found a new home. Friday night was packed very crowded isles and check-out. Saturday busy too. Big lines at the retail store both days cashing in their “Lenny Bucks” and buying more products. Had a great time and the folks from Lionel could not have been more accommodating.
I would think Lionel dealers within 500 miles of this place would surely take a day and purchase a lot of inventory for their stores.
Sounds like the guy in the post above who got 50 bottles of smoke fluid thought the same Jim!
I hope Scott got me something good!
I'm more impressed with the new stuff stacked up to the ceiling.
Unfortunately I can’t make it down this year. Too bad! Because every year I’ve attended I’ve found some good bargains.
Once again we went down to NC from Pittsburgh and was not disappointed. While I did not return with any Legacy engines, 2 of my friends each got a AC9. We all came home with some odds and ends and had a blast traveling, at the sale, and checking out the retail store.
Everyone at the sale was so nice. Lionel had a large staff on hand and did great at helping. Even saw Howard packing the tables.
Thanks to Lionel and especially the staff for having us. It was a great time.
Any $8,000 postwar original shipping cartons on sale for $4,999 ?
I went today and the biggest reason I went was last year they has 10" straights for 2:00 ea today they only has the 36" curves for 2:00 ea I was hopping to get the rest of the track I need to finish my lay out but didn't happen. I was disappointed because of that. the 10:00 grab table was smaller and did not have much to chose from that was better last year also the table was longer and had more to look at. the rest was fine my brother got a polar express set for 230.00 I think. and a lionel chief Thomas set for 110.00

Guess that explains why our local store has none!😊
The sale was fantastic this year. I found a box with a price of $200. I opened it up because I was curious what was inside and to my surprise a 2 pack of 18in Norfolk and Western passenger cars which I quickly grabbed. I also picked up a weathered Norfolk and Western Y6b #2186 for $900. Nothing was wrong with the passenger cars or the Y6b. Very good prices as always and hard to find items there too. It definitely helps to come early and wait before the sale starts. I got there around 5:45pm and a lot of the shop items were gone. The Y6b that I got was the last big Legacy Steam engine there. Then I got $110 in Lenny bucks to my surprise to spend at the retail store. Got some smoke fluid, track, and a freight car all for free. Very good evening!
A very large turnout on Sat. morning. Buyers, shopping carts and Lionel staff everywhere. The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. Very little high end stuff but what they were selling they had a good in house inventory. We got what we liked at a good price including smoke. A lotta stuff for sale there. Will go back next year.

Yes RICK, me too!!! Wonder if the H10s and the Pacifics are in those boxes?

The Mogels should be back in China being rebuilt into Moguls.
Come on Scott! What did we get?
Paid about half price for the Legacy locos. Same for smoke fluid.
Scott, I think I recognize that guy running the trains.
They still had one or two sharks nose diesels and a couple of Legacy GP7's. Yes there were still Lion Chief locomotives left. Some of the Hallmark Christmas engines as well.

Found this at nearly 50% off catalog price on Friday ......
