This is a sore subject.  Lionel creates more bad will than good in producing this car and limiting it to such a small number that only people who will be there at noon on Thursday and can quickly run from an entrance door to the LCCA booth (beating those already in the hall) will get one.  Why not sell them pre-made in a larger amount like MTH did for 25+ years?  Or take orders on them for later delivery.

No Lionel at York!  Maybe the TCA will figure out why.

I think it's the beginning of the end. I work at TM Book & Video booth with in the Orange Hall and I have seen a decline in attendance over the years to the point where even the busy days are very light. I think Lionel is responding by going elsewhere. Last time we didn't make any decent money and brought back a lot of videos.

Just hold on guys & girls. You'll be able to get one on E Bay in a couple years for peanuts.  IMO, only high-end engines hold their valve for now, this too will change in time!

Jim, while what you say about high-end engines may be/is true, these Lionel York boxcars will be up on E-bay before the end of the day Thursday for hundreds of dollars. (People don't want to wait a couple of years to get them for "peanuts.")  It's sad because guys are either "geographically" left out of this buying opportunity, or are cut out of the deal even if they attend York and just can't get there by Thursday's opening bell.  Lionel needs to re-think this tradition it has created, or either just stop offering these cars.

I know, it's just not fair.   Just like when I missed an opportunity to buy a limited edition, autographed Walter Payton Bears Jersey before a game in Chicago in 1986 as I was out of town.

I've also missed out on limited edition signed albums at concerts as they ran out before it was my turn.

No ill will.

Yeah, it'd be cool to have one of these box cars, but A. I'm not going this year, and B., If I miss, I miss.

Ill will  hahahahahahahaha

whatever
