Question about the Legacy 765. Is the whistle note the main appeal of that engine or just the fact that it real engine is still in service? Seems like a very low note when browsing the you tube videos much like the Legacy C&O.
I would think the ideal solution would be some form of Legacy/LionChief Bridge.
I have no idea if this would be technically possible. Control of LionChief Engine by Legacy or TMCC Cab in command mode thus avoiding a hand full of remotes.
It does seem odd that Lionel did not think to keep the technology compatible so Legacy
could "Talk" to a LionChief engine. Or did they? And it's something for later release.

Would like to see conventional versions of these engines offered alongside the 'loaded'
ones, as was offered a few years ago. I for one, don't need all the electronic doo-dads,
just bell & whistle and maybe remote couplers.

I noticed that the 765 is being offered with the Mars light smoke box as an "option" for modeling earlier eras. Are they talking about an additional light that can be removed?

Yes, steamers. But, to have a lionmaster with many different handhelds is a joke. Does Lionel think Mr. Christmas buyer is going tp spend 300.00 on a engine?. The whole lionmaster line is a waste. They are not gaining buyers at this price level. They are losing them. What so tough in making a cheaper engine with legacy...
You know this how? Did Lionel open their books to you?
So this ONE catalog is mostly high priced stuff. As others have mentioned there's lots of moderately priced stuff out there with all the bells and whistles (no pun).
Recently Lionel is able to produce small motorized units featuring TMCC like the track inspection vehicles and Trackmobiles for $130-$300 MSRP. Why not put that same technology in every locomotive (including starter sets)?
The Lion-Chief Plus idea is a good attempt in the right direction, but falls short because of the remote limitations. Why not allow the Lion-Chief+ locomotives operate using the Cab1 or Cab2 remotes as well as the Lion-Chief+ remote?
When Lionel cannot produce a steam locomotive with basic TMCC in the $400-$500 price range, MTH Railking locomotives priced at $400.00 with PS 2.0 or 3.0 sell all the easier in my shop.

This is my thought exactly. There are a number of layouts out there with a maximum curve of O-31 and under, this is where the O-27 / O gauge LEGACY steamers are needed.
