Are Menards flat cars traditional, std o or scale like cars, especially the width.

As far as newer flat cars are concerned, Menards seems to be making two different sizes - one is 14.75" long and 2 5/8 " wide and the smaller version is 10.5" long and 2 1/8" wide.
So, it seems the 10.5 " car is traditional and the 14.75 is much closer to scale. Thanks for the info

This Freight Car Guide has info on flat cars here.
The longer Menard's flatcar would be 58 scale feet, that's close. Prototype plain flatcars are 60 foot and 89 foot in length.

Correct, I think the 60 foot flatcars started appearing in the 1960's.
