Mike, Yes, you will be very missed by us all. Your knowledge, ability to communicate and your candor are a great asset. Your absence from Lionel is already being felt, your input on this Forum will, hopefully, continue.
Jesse
I could give you guys / gals all kinds of examples, but I will keep this short. This past Halloween I had seven children in my train room for a Halloween Party. My two grand children and five friends. ages two to five. I have four LionChief Plus controllers and we had four LionChief locos running at the same time. Each child got a controller, so a lot of hands on fun with Lionel Trains.
So; Thank-you Mike Reagan for your leadership at Lionel Trains and putting the hobby of model trains into the hands of little guys and gals.
Best wishes; Gary Figi (Train Room Gary) and
Very sad, I wish Mike the very best, and my thanks!
Perhaps Menards is looking to make a bigger push, and will have an opening.
Lionel corporate needs a plan to respond to their loss of expertise and enthusiasm and competence. Hmm.
Wow! That's a shock. I like the guy. Acerbic wit and very good technical knowledge. He'll definitely be missed. Wish him the best.
I go along with RoyBoy. Upper management are usually the last to know who the good people are. He probably wanted a raise.
My take on this VERY sad situation is; one of the VERY FEW real "train guys" is no longer at Lionel!
You cannot replace Babe Ruth !
I wish Mike all the best. He helped me so many times, I cannot even count. He turned Lionel around, IMO.
Wow, what a shock !!
Very Sad News.....Not Good....
A shock, and I didn't need another right now. And so very sudden. It feels like a real hole has been created at Lionel with this announcement. Always in the background at Lionel, it seemed if all else failed, there was always Mike to turn to. That accessibility was a great asset to all. A real loss.
Wow, he will be missed. A lot. Good luck to him. And Lionel.
Secretary of Inspiration !
Well, this is like "The Shot Heard Around The World", so to speak, its in one way, SAD to hear, however, in another way, he probably has something in mind to do. I have known Mike since the Train America Studio Days, and watched him grow into one of the Very Best (Well Respected) Toy Train Repair Trainers Ever!!! When Lionel hired him to head up their Train Repair Department, he made it the best in theTMCC/LEGACY toy train market. I commend him for his time, patience, and expert knowledge in this field. He took on the Challenge, made Our Hobby what it is TODAY, and yes His Vision will be remembered by all who have been Lionel Collectors and Operators over the Years.
Now, Mike, if you read this thread, I wish you Good Luck with your Future, and Thank You for all your help you have given us while on Duty at Lionel....You are the Man!!! Your friend in Tennessee, Leapin Larry
Those of us who are long-time members of the Maine 3-Railers Model Railroad Club are very distressed to learn that Mike has resigned from Lionel. Mike has been an exceptionally good friend and a supporter of our club. He has been very willing to share his expertise and extensive knowledge with us on many occasions. Simply put, Lionel will obviously not be same with him! Hopefully with all of his talents, Mike will land on his feet somewhere... and we all hope that it will be for the better!
Mike, good luck on whatever your plans are. You turned Lionel and these boards on end with your knowledge, candor and insights. Keep em rolling!!
Has always been supportive when I have called. Thanks Mike for the service. Wish you well.
Mike R. regularly attended LCCA conventions and often chaired the presentation of the LIONEL SEMINAR on Friday afternoons. While other presenters were competent and knowledgeable, Mike added style, spice, and humor to the seminars. His informational videos about Lionel products posted on the Lionel website were always clear and insightful; especially helpful to novices and newbies in the hobby.
He could be the leader of the successor team at OGR magazine - or something. Five years of service in an executive role in the hobby would be a good qualifier for him to return to "Big L" sometime in the future to a position higher up the totem pole.

Something is up. You don't just walk out the same day you hand in your resignation if everything is "amicable".
Lionel's loss for sure. I wish Mike nothing but the best in the next phase of his life.
-Greg
Always hate to hear news like this. But the years Mike was with Lionel were a plus for many of us. So Mike whatever you are going to do all the best wishes. You are the one and only Mikado............Paul
I'd like to see his non compete agreement... Lionel is losing one of if not their best ambassador.
Sorry to hear maybe he will move to MD or Ohio.
Wow HUGE loss for Lionel! Known Mike since TAS days. Mike even motored to Clarion to visit the Clarion Model RR Club......long ago. Top shelf person ....the best in train technology.......hope Mike has a good place to go......
This is very sad. This probably means the end to the LionelCS2011 youtube channel too.
I agree with Greg Houser. Something is fishy with all this especially this time of year. MTH ??
Just a thought.... if you'd like to see this thread stick around for Mike to see it, you might stick to the warm wishes and good thoughts as opposed to speculation on why this is happening. The goal of releasing this information was not to start rumors, it was to give people the ability to thank Mike for his service to our hobby. Let's try and stick to that.
Hopefully, he will reemerge in the O scale world.
Mike, best to you in your future endeavors. Thanks for doing some really cool stuff during your tenure at Lionel.
Paul
Mike:
Thank you for all that you have done for the O gauge hobby. Best wishes and good luck in your future endeavors!

This happens all the time in corporate America, people come and go it's no big deal. You always hate to see good people go but that is the way it is.
Lets just wish him good luck in his next phrase of his life. Life will go on.
Dave
I'd like to congratulate him on a job well done and wish good fortune on his future.
He seemed very professional, and a great resource for the hobby itself. I too hope he remains involved in some way.
I really hope it's for a better offer of some sort that this event has occurred. He's a real asset.
Mike went above and beyond a few times for me. I wish him and his family all the best. I'm certain that those who worked with him day in and day out have learned a great deal and will keep the ship a float.
I remember the first time I met Mike. It was at the Big Train show in Ontario,Ca and I was like a little kid seeing Santa. He was very nice and loved what we did with creating the All Aboard Fastrackers squares. I just want to say thank you for everything you have done. Your goodwill and helpful manner has helped drive me to volunteer at train club and shows and was one reason I decided to run for being a club president since I hope to pay forward what you did for me.
Thanks again!
Aww geez! He probably got tired, sick and tired, of me asking for Lionel to remake the Acela!
Mike probably realizes there's only a few years left of this hobby, and being a young man with a family he needs something more secure for him and his family's future. I wish him well and will miss his informative videos.
Sorry to hear from our perspective, but Mike may have a better opportunity. If so, best of luck in your future endeavors Mike. Maybe instead of wild speculation, we should wait to hear from the man himself, if he is so inclined to share that with us. If not, we should respect his privacy, and wish him well as so many have done already.

This thread should stick around BECAUSE folks are wishing Mike well on his own merits and through personal experiences folks here have had with Mike over the years -- all of which appear to be sincere, unsolicited comments. And that's a tribute to Mike's work ethic in this hobby.

Just going to say from a semi-young perspective:
Mike made trains cool.

Same here. He's gonna do well wherever he goes, but best wishes.
Would be cool to see him over at MTH, making their parts/repairs as easy as it has been for me with Lionel stuff, but doubt it.
Good luck to ya.
Oh man wish you the best Mike. You really did a lot of great things for Lionel and all its loyal fans. Thank you hope you don't go far from the hobby. Gonna really miss you reading the Night Before Christmas on Notch 6 . It just won't be the same Christmas Eve.
New job:
U.S. Secretary of Humor and Competence.
Mike would run 'em wild.
