This Sunday is the monthly show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL.  It should be a good one being it is December and the normal increase in train activity this time of year.

We will be there at The Verdict Restaurant between 6:30 and 7:00 AM for our breakfast before the show.  The size of our group has been growing and we would love to have you join us.

John - If you still need help getting things in, let us know at breakfast.  Look forward to seeing you.

Ken - That's great Ken.  Look forward to meeting your brother and his son.  Are they into 3-rail trains too?

Jeff - I know what you mean, they do serve a big breakfast there.  I've not seen anyone leave hungry.

I have been receiving some good-natured ribbing about how early some of us have been going to breakfast.  I don't know what is going on either but it seems like a couple of us are getting there earlier all the time.  I have gotten there at 6:30 and found Milt there reading a book waiting for us.  Another time Jim was there real early too.  My excuse is that the traffic at that time is almost non-existent and I didn't take that into consideration.

It was fun seeing everyone at the breakfast this morning.  Not sure if anyone took any pictures at breakfast, but there was one long table and a separate booth that attended the breakfast.  I was the 1st one at the restaurant at 6:25 am with my brother and his son.  Got there earlier than expected!  The buildings were crowded this morning which is good for the show.  Art and Les stopped by my house after the show to see my Christmas Layout.  The Picture below is a quick snapshot of them in front of my layout, but unfortunately not the best quality due to the lightening in the room.    Ken

Ken - Thank you again for your hospitality.  You have done a beautiful job on your Christmas layout.  I already had the Christmas spirit but this put me over the top.  I couldn't believe that you had 6 trains running at the same time!  With all your passenger trains I thought I might have been at Brian's (Passenger Train Collector) by mistake.  I especially loved your Milwaukee Road passenger pulled by Lionel's 261, that is on my wish list.

Lastly is you hadn't kept an eye on me, I was tempted to make off with your cute little dog, Isabelle.  She's a real charmer.

Yesterday was a great day at DuPage in my opinion.  I don't think anyone took any pictures and I didn't buy anything, but we started with a great group at breakfast.

Former members that were there:  Rattler21, sp2207, kjstrains, Jeff T, Franktrain, AlanRail, DaveRipp, RD, and me Chugman.  Non-forum members were: Les, Bill, Mike, Doug, Howard, Stan, and Ken's brother and nephew.

The weather was great, a little misty but temps in the high 40's which is not bad for Chicago in December.  I thought the crowds were great with a lot of vendors too.

I didn't buy anything, but drooled over the new Atlas passenger cars in Milwaukee Road.  Les bought a really cool Ives passenger train, which I don't know much about but was impressed with.  As I left I saw people carrying out lots of boxes, in fact it reminded me of York in that regard.  It sounds like this was the curtain call for Denny's Trains from Oswego.  He told me he has been showing at DuPage for 44 years!  It won't be the same not seeing him in building 4.  And Eddie that has sold Artista figures at DuPage had his last show and is retiring due to his health.  He is a great guy and will be missed.

If I missed anybody, I'm sorry.  I had a great time.  Merry Christmas

Again, thanks for stopping by with Les yesterday.  Isabel is a lot of fun, but is a handful too!!  She does not always warm-up to unfamiliar people that fast…so she obviously took a likening to you!   So, is Denny closing his shop in Oswego or just no longer going attend the show?  Ken

I suppose it might be appropriate to post this here...

I really wish I could have made the show; I've been fighting Mr. Influenza for about about a week. I wanted to tell all of you that these monthly get togethers at the Verdict/DuPage show have really added another dimention of fun to this hobby; THANK YOU.

I wish all of you and yours Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Jon

This was the first time I met the fellas for breakfast before the show. It was great to see old friends and make some new ones but 6:30 is really early!

Had breakfast and went to the show and walked all the buildings plus the parking lot vendors and was done by 9:30... didn't know what to do with myself...

Did you guys ever consider getting together for brunch?

Had a great time and Merry Christmas to the breakfast club!

ps: OK Brian.. I made it for breakfast now it's your turn!
