Thanks for the info! I will keep my eyes open for a nonpowered loco of similar vintage for the prototype. Heck, any eastern road loco from the seventies would work, and if it was cheap enough, could do a Conrail # change with a patch paint job and decals. That would be prototypical.

Besides the MTH locos, Weaver models Sd40-2's will work as well! Wink Thanks
During its initial years, Conrail was short of reliable motive power and leased locomotives from several roads: SP, SSW, Southern, Missouri Pacific, UP, CN, GTW, Precision National, BN (former SP&S RS3s still painted and lettered for SP&S with BN numbers), BAR and CNW. That gives you additional options to add to your CR set in a realistic manner.

Yes! The dummy Lionel CP SD-40 unit was made in '92 as #18209.

Howdy. I bought a 1987 vintage Conrail Limited set today, at Barry's Train Shop, it is in unrun condition. I also have an Erie Lackawanna LTD set, with the non powered SD40. My question is, did Lionel ever issue a matching non powered SD40 for the CR Ltd set? Thanks in advance.
