Find the wire coming from the 3rd rail roller and attach one wire to that.  the other wire can go directly to the frame if it's metal.  Otherwise connect the two wires to the two wires going to the e-unit board from the truck.

Thanks John.  The frame is metal so I'll connect one wire to that.  Identifying the wire coming from the pickup roller is a bit more confusing.  I've attached a picture.  I'm thinking it's the red wire.

Ok I think I got it.  Electric RR's website still has the install manual online for its (now decommissioned) Sound Commander 2 card.  Two outer screws are 3rd rail power and center is common.  So I should be able to attach one to the center screw and one to one of the outside screws.

After a year wait I just got my Beef B&O engine. How do you like the MRC sounds? I never messed with adding sound befor so I' interested to know how it worked out for you.

Which unit are you using as I have an ARR, BEEF, and would love to hook

I have the B&O Beef. My granddaughter loves the little passenger cars and had to get the A unit set for them. I've been researching sound systems that can be controlled either with a standard power supply or with my DCS.

If you haven't got one, I would highly recommend getting the MRC remote control.  It makes it a whole lot easier to program the sounds and accesses more sound effects.  It's pretty cheap.
