It is my preferred puller for my "Train of Sin", the Beer & Tobacco train (plus one Graves Mortuary Supply car).

I went thru this with mine. When I first got it, was pretty confused about how it works. Coming from a conventional background, I thought I could just put it on the track and run it. NOPE (and I was wondering if the engine was defective). It has a rechargeable battery that most likely will not take a charge anymore. I didn't realize that the battery is absolutely critical to the thing being able to run. It's NOT optional. I put a regular 9v battery in it to test and it ran like a champ. That battery came out and I put a BCR in. Gilly is absolutely correct. The BCR is a capacitor that 1) looks like a regular 9v battery and 2)charges up in about 30 seconds and will keep a charge for a couple of hours. You should love the engine once you're familiar with it.
Also, I read about needing a new chip or needing to reset the chip - I found info that lists the engines that were prone to this issue - the coal turbine was not one of them.
