Just picked up another Proto Sound 2 Upgrade kit. Notice the difference in the batteries. The top one is from the two kits picked up last month from local dealer. The bottom one is from the kit picked up today.

Interesting! since the capacity of the battery hasn't changed, the only reason i can see to switch to the 2/3AA size would be cost. The odd thing is those AA 700maH are not available in retail form--- only as OEM. The 2/3AA 700MaH is available in retail for about 2.50$ in bulk(more than 10). Of course,MTH probably buys in 1000 piece lots---

You can also use a BCR clone, even smaller. This one cost less than $6 total and leaves lots of room for other stuff.

Does that BCR just plug right in to replace the battery...no fancy-smancy wiring required??

If so, please adivise of your source so I can purchase some of them.
