This is for an MTH AC6000 with a 5v PS-2 system. The sound became very distorted while back, and I stopped using the engine. Consensus at the time was the speaker was bad due to the known problem with flaking. So while I was at York, I stopped at MTH, told them the problem, and bought a speaker from their parts selection. I finally got around to installing it today. New problem: The old speaker is 16 ohms, 5 watt. The one I purchased is 4 ohms, 2 watts. That's not going to work! I checked my parts bins and found a 16 ohm, 0.2 watt, from a PS-1 system. But while the impedance is correct, I'm worried about the wattage rating. I looked on-line, and found a company called Parts-Express that has 2" 16ohm speakers. Not sure about the wattage of these. Has anyone used this company and these speakers before? Good/bad experience?

BTW, going with 2 8ohm speakers in series won't work. There isn't any room for a second speaker.

OK, the AC-600 is fixed. I put the salvaged 16 ohm speaker in, and added  a BCR I happened to have on hand. Tested, and we have sound and motion!  Thanks everyone for your help! I'm tempted to purchase a couple of extra speakers from Brasseur just to have on hand for future needs.
