In case you were waiting for the MTH Christmas Engine, Rail King product #30-20436-1 it is now due to arrive January 2018 because they have had problems with packing and shipping the engine without causing damage to the LED Christmas type lights located around the engine itself.  Sounds like poor planning for those wanting this product before December 25!

I purchased the Railking Canadian Pacific train with LED lighting.  The cars look good and run smoothly but the light strings on two of the cars were loose.  I just unpacked them the other day and haven't had a chance to see if they can be re-attached easily (to the frame of the cars just above where the doors slide).  If I can't do it I'll have to contact MTH.  I'm not sorry I bought them but it's still a pain.

Sounds more like poor planning from MTH. They are shipping the Premier version, so clearly they are able to package and ship that. I'd think the packaging is the same, just a bit bigger.

I know of at least one dealer seriously considering refusing the shipment he has - as he told me, this is the second or third year his entire - or part of - Christmas order has been delivered AFTER Christmas forcing him to sit on the inventory the entire year.

Hhmmmm....    I thought I saw a post indicating the Premier version was shipping from MTH this week, so it seems a bit odd that the Railking version isn't gonna make it.

Wouldn't be the first time a Christmas item arrives after Christmas, since the Chinese factories don't have a sense of urgency for this kind of thing.  One of a growing list of "hidden costs" that were never factored into how wonderful overseas manufacturing would be, when the spreadsheet wizards cranked out the numbers years ago.
